Happy New Year

Happy New Year everyone!

Today I will be sharing cards that I have made for the New Year Celebration. These are quite simple but carry a big punch.

I used the DCWV stack, Christmas creations, this is one of the photo real pages that are in the stack. I liked that it had the faded lights in the background, which is very trendy right now. I heat embossed with white Zing powder Happy New Year from the Hero Arts set CL498, which is year round greetings.

For the red card

I used the American Crafts red glitter tape as the accent piece with red cardstock from Michales' as the backing paper. The card measures at 5 x 5 total and the backing paper is at 4 3/4 x 4 3/4 with the image paper measuring a 4 1/2 x 4 1/2. This makes the edges pop out really well and of course gives room for the faux stitching. I used red gem stones from Michales' as well as the only real embellishment on the card

For the green card

I did the same with this card, but I had to make my own green stones by using a green Bic marker on clear stones.

A side note on this, I always show my cards to my husband to see if he likes what I made. He said that the paper reminded him of Saturday Night Live and that I should put a picture of Bill Murry in the upper left hand corner. He is so funny, however I do not wish to be sued by Bill Murry for the use of his likeness, so no I will not be doing that.

Thanks everyone for stopping by today, hope that you have a wonderful New Years' Celebration

Update on Crafty Things

So I am still waiting to get my camera fixed, it sucks, so that I can post photos, maybe do a video who knows. But, in the mean time I have been doing some crafty things. I thought that I would do a 365 challenge of making a card a day, I have done fairly well with that. I have also been altering items from Micheal's and the Dollar Tree. They have all been very shabby chic, which is usually very hard for me to do. So I am going to keep up the crafting and hopefully get to put pictures soon.

Happy 2013!!

So I have decided that I actually want to update my blog this year, go figure it has been over 2 years since my one and only post. But, I decided that I want to get into doing this and showcase the things that I have made, unfortunately my camera decided that this would be a great time to stop working... but it is still under warranty for the manufacturer so that is a small blessing.
So lets put a purpose statement out there. I want to use this blog to showcase the cards, altered projects, occasional layouts, and any other crafty project that I may do. I am capable but not proficient at crochet, so I am going to be working to improve those skills. Sewing I am not very good at and I have a schizophrenia sewing machine, of course I want a new one, that does not thread under the tension wheel. I am going to attempt to teach myself how to knit. And I may even work in a few jewelry making projects.

Here's to 2013 may it be a great crafting year
